Model/Actor Portfolios and HeadshotsRates and Products for the Modeling IndustryThe Portfolio 411Models often make the mistake of trying to create an entire portfolio all at once. It takes time to build a portfolio. Multiple shoots, preferably with multiple photographers are necessary to create the full range of looks, dress and styles that the model can achieve. Variety is important and no photographer can create an entire model portfolio in one session. (At least not a quality one!) This applies to both print and online portfolios. If all of your images are of you in lingerie, then that the type of work for which you will get the most offers. If you want to do lingerie, bikinis or nudes, but want to persue other types of work as well, then limit yourself to one or two images of each of those styles. (And make sure they are GREAT shots!) Do NOT include your high school photos, photos of you and *somebody* or any other non-professional shots. Having a Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist are highly recommended. Yes, they are more expensive, but well worth the investment. Just as with photographers, it's also a good idea to work with a number of Makeup Artists for more variety in your looks. If you do plan on having a print portfolio, presentation is important. Make sure your photos are Photographic PRINTS, not color prints of your home computer or worse, copies. Your prints and tearsheets should be presented in a book meant to be a portfolio, not a binder. If you use a box style portfolio, make sure your prints are mounted or laminated. Once you've become an experienced model and have a good sized catalog of (great) photos, you can create multiple portfolios to market yourself toward different clients and agencies. At that point you will have a primary book that targets the type of work you are after. Portfolio Shoots
Your portfolio session will include a number of outfit changes with
the goal of creating unique images. All sittings include unlimited
poses, wardrobe changes and exposures as permitted by time. The
best images are "tweaked" and digital proofs are provided 10-14
